Canadian channels on a Fire TV Stick: where CTV, TSN, CBC and the rest are in 2026

Most Canadian channels reach a Fire TV Stick through the broadcasters’ own apps: Crave for CTV, the TSN and Sportsnet apps for sports, CBC Gem for CBC, Global TV (now becoming STACKTV) for Global, and TVA+ for TVA. The map changed a lot in 2026. The CTV and Noovo apps shut down on May 1, and the newest Fire TV Sticks run Vega OS, which some Canadian apps don’t support yet. This guide lists where each channel lives now, what it costs and what to check on your stick.

Quick answer

Which app carries each Canadian channel on Fire TV

Key takeaways
  • CTV and Noovo now live inside the Crave app. The standalone CTV and Noovo apps closed on May 1, 2026.
  • CBC, ICI Télé, TVA and Télé-Québec can be watched live for free with their own apps.
  • TSN and Sportsnet need either a TV provider login or their own streaming subscription.
  • New Fire TV Stick models released since late 2025 run Vega OS. CBC Gem doesn’t support the 4K Select, and Vega sticks can’t install Android apps from outside the Appstore.

The table below is the short version. Prices are monthly, in Canadian dollars, before tax, as listed by each service or in dated Canadian reports, checked on October 23, 2026.

What changed in 2026

The 2026 changes that broke older setup guides

Plenty of Fire TV guides written before this year will send you to apps that no longer exist. Four changes matter.

  • CTV and Noovo moved into Crave. Bell Media shut down the CTV and Noovo apps and websites starting May 1, 2026. Live CTV, CTV2 and Noovo, plus their on-demand shows, are now in the Crave app.
  • The Global TV app is turning into the STACKTV app. Corus is renaming it in phases through fall and winter 2026. Global News streams stay free, while the full Global feed and the other Corus channels sit behind STACKTV.
  • CBC News Network and ICI RDI became Prime Video Channels in March 2026, at $4.99 a month each, for people who want the news channels without CBC Gem Premium or ICI TOU.TV.
  • Citytv+ is sold directly since September 2025, at $9.99 a month or $99 a year, and it’s still available as a Prime Video Channel.

Super Écran has no app of its own anymore either. Its French movies and series are part of Crave.

Before you install

Check which Fire TV Stick you have: Fire OS or Vega OS

Amazon is moving its sticks from Fire OS, which is based on Android, to Vega OS, which is based on Linux. Amazon’s developer documentation says every Fire TV Stick starting with the 4K Select will run Vega. For Canadian channels this matters in two ways. Vega has a smaller app catalogue, and it can only install apps from the Amazon Appstore, so Android apps from other sources won’t run.

CBC’s supported-devices page lists Fire TV Sticks and Fire TV smart TVs on Fire OS 6 or later, and names the Vega-based 4K Select as unsupported. For the other Canadian apps we couldn’t find a published Vega list. If you’re buying a stick mainly for Canadian TV, search the Appstore for each app you need before you buy, or pick the 4K Max.

Channel by channel

Setting up each Canadian channel

CTV and Noovo (Crave)

Install Crave from the Appstore. A free Bell Media account, with no credit card, unlocks some episodes and standard CTV programming. Signing in with your TV provider unlocks the full live CTV channel, including your local CTV station, and a paid Crave plan does the same without a cable account. If an older guide tells you to install “CTV”, skip it and use Crave.

TSN

The TSN app accepts a TV provider login, or you can subscribe in the app. TSN’s own plan page lists Standard at $24.99 a month and Premium at $29.99, with Premium adding extras such as NFL RedZone and more NBA games. Bell has changed these plans several times this year, so check tsn.ca on the day you subscribe.

Sportsnet

The Sportsnet app works with a TV provider login or a Sportsnet+ subscription. Since September 22, 2026, Sportsnet+ Standard costs $34.99 a month and Premium costs $44.99. One thing hockey fans should know: Sportsnet’s Monday Night Hockey streams only on Sportsnet+ this season, so a cable login alone won’t show it unless your provider includes the add-on.

CBC

CBC Gem is free with a CBC account. Signed in, you can stream your local CBC station and the other regional CBC channels live, plus the on-demand library. CBC News Network needs Gem Premium at $5.99 a month. Remember the Vega warning above: Gem doesn’t support the 4K Select.

Global

The Global TV app, now being renamed STACKTV, streams Global News live for free and without a login. The full Global feed and the other Corus channels need STACKTV, which is $14.99 a month after a 7-day trial and is sold through Prime Video, or access through a TV provider that includes it.

Citytv

Citytv+ costs $9.99 a month or $99 a year on its own. If you also want Sportsnet, the Sportsnet+ Standard and Citytv+ bundle is $36.99 a month.

TVA and TVA Sports

TVA+ is free with ads and includes the live TVA channel. TVA Sports is a separate paid service; through Prime Video Channels, TVA Sports Direct has been $17.99 a month. TVA Sports now holds the national French NHL rights, so Quebec hockey fans will want it.

RDS

Bell relaunched the RDS app in 2026. It takes a TV provider login, or an in-app subscription listed at $24.99 a month or $199.99 a year. RDS keeps regional Canadiens games in French.

ICI Télé, Télé-Québec and TVO

ICI TOU.TV is free and includes the live ICI Télé channel. The Télé-Québec app is free for live TV and on demand. TVO has a free Fire TV app for its on-demand programs.

CPAC

CPAC doesn’t have a Fire TV app. Its help page lists the website and its iPhone and Android apps.

Troubleshooting

Why a Canadian app won't install or won't play

Most problems come down to a handful of causes. Work through them in this order.

  1. Your Amazon account isn’t set to Canada. CBC’s help centre says Gem won’t appear for download when the Amazon account has a U.S. billing address or the device uses a U.S. time zone. The same applies to most Canadian apps. Check your country under Content and Devices on amazon.ca.
  2. You have a Vega OS stick. If an app is missing from the Appstore on a 4K Select, HD (2026) or 4K (3rd gen), it may not be available for Vega yet.
  3. Your TV provider login expired. TSN, Sportsnet, RDS and Crave all ask you to sign in again from time to time. Sign out of the provider and back in.
  4. The app needs an update or a cache clear. On Fire OS, go to Settings, Applications, Manage Installed Applications, pick the app, and choose Clear cache. Then restart the stick from Settings, My Fire TV, Restart.
  5. The stream starts but stutters. That’s usually Wi-Fi. Our buffering guide walks through the fixes, starting with the free ones.
Cost

What a full Canadian lineup costs on Fire TV

Adding up the apps shows why many households end up mixing free apps with one or two paid ones. These examples use the monthly prices above, before tax.

HouseholdAppsMonthly cost
News and local TV onlyCBC Gem, ICI TOU.TV, TVA+, Télé-Québec, Global News in the Global TV app, Crave’s free tier$0
Local TV plus CTV and CitytvThe free apps, a Crave plan and Citytv+$9.99 plus your Crave plan
Sports in EnglishTSN Premium and Sportsnet+ Standard$64.98
Sports in FrenchRDS and TVA Sports Direct$42.98

Prime Video’s Wednesday NHL games are included with a Prime membership, so they don’t add to these totals if you already pay for Prime.

Where IPTV fits

One guide instead of ten apps

The broadcaster apps work well, but each one has its own login, guide and subscription. An IPTV service takes a different approach: Canadian networks, sports channels and international channels sit in one channel guide, so you flip between TSN, CTV and TVA the way you would on cable.

If you want to compare, FineIPTV’s channel list shows the Canadian networks we carry, and our Fire TV Stick setup guide covers the player apps and settings. You can see the plans on the best IPTV Canada homepage or test the service for 24 hours with the free trial.

  • On Fire OS sticks, including the 4K Max, the usual IPTV player apps install and run normally.
  • On Vega OS sticks, you’re limited to player apps that are in the Amazon Appstore. Message us with your model before you subscribe and we’ll tell you which app to use.
Limits

What a Fire TV Stick can't do for Canadian TV

  • It can’t pick up antenna channels. Fire TV Sticks have no TV tuner. Amazon’s Fire TV Recast, which added one, launched only in the United States and has been discontinued. Fire TV Edition smart TVs sold in Canada, such as some Toshiba and Insignia models, do accept an antenna and show over-the-air channels in the Live tab.
  • The Canadian apps work in Canada. Several of them, including RDS and TVA+, state that viewing is only available in Canada.
  • Prices change often. TSN, Sportsnet+ and Crave all changed their prices in 2026. We checked every price on this page on October 23, 2026.

A note on who wrote this

This guide was written by the FineIPTV Team. Every app status, device detail and price comes from the broadcaster, Amazon or a dated Canadian news report, checked on October 23, 2026. We’ll update the page when the STACKTV rename finishes and when Amazon publishes more about Vega app support.

FAQ

Fire TV and Canadian channels: common questions

Can you get CTV on a Firestick?

Yes, through the Crave app. The standalone CTV app shut down on May 1, 2026. A free Bell Media account gives you some CTV programming, and a TV provider login or a paid Crave plan gives you the full live CTV channel.

Can I watch TSN on an Amazon Fire Stick?

Yes. Install the TSN app, then sign in with your TV provider or subscribe in the app. TSN lists Standard at $24.99 a month and Premium at $29.99.

How do I get CBC on a Firestick?

Install CBC Gem and sign in with a free CBC account that has a Canadian address. You can then watch your local CBC station live. CBC Gem doesn't support the Fire TV Stick 4K Select, which runs Vega OS.

Can you get Global TV on a Firestick?

Yes. The Global TV app, which is being renamed STACKTV, streams Global News live for free. The full Global channel needs a STACKTV subscription at $14.99 a month after a 7-day trial, or a TV provider that includes it.

Why can't I find a Canadian app in the Fire TV Appstore?

The two usual reasons are an Amazon account set to a country other than Canada, or a newer stick running Vega OS, which has a smaller app catalogue.

Can a Fire TV Stick get local channels with an antenna?

No. Fire TV Sticks don't have a tuner. For antenna channels you need a TV with a built-in tuner, such as a Fire TV Edition smart TV, which shows them in the Live tab.
