IPTV Smarters Pro is the app we send first, because it is the only one that runs on a Fire TV Stick, an Apple TV, a Samsung or LG set, an iPhone and a Windows laptop with the same three-field login. It is free, and the guide is good enough for hockey. This is the install on each platform, the login screen field by field, the six settings that matter, and the fix for what breaks.

IPTV Smarters Pro is a player made by WHMCS Smarters, published at iptvsmarters.com. It carries no channels; you give it the login from your trial email and it draws the channel list, the guide and the on-demand library around it. Its advantage over TiviMate is reach: TiviMate is Android only, while Smarters has a build for every platform on this site.
On Android phones, Android TV and Google TV it installs from the Play Store or from the developer’s own download page; on Fire TV it is sideloaded with Downloader. On iPhone, iPad and Apple TV it comes from the App Store. Samsung Tizen and LG webOS carry a lighter build in their own stores, sometimes named Smarters Player Lite, so check the store on your model; some TV-store IPTV apps charge a one-time activation fee, and the listing says so before you install. Windows and Mac use the desktop build from the developer’s site.
The app is free on every platform, with no premium tier to unlock. What you pay for is the subscription, which is the same login whichever device you open IPTV Smarters Pro on: Standard plays two streams at once, Pro plays five.
Installing IPTV Smarters Pro on each device Canadians actually own
Only the first step of an IPTV Smarters Pro install differs by device. Once the app opens, the login screen is the same on a CA$40 Fire TV Stick and a CA$200 Apple TV.
- Fire TV Stick or Cube. Settings → My Fire TV → About, press select seven times on the device name, then Developer Options → Install unknown apps. Install Downloader from the Appstore, switch it on there, open it and enter the install link from your trial email. Our Fire TV page shows each screen.
- Android TV, Google TV or an Android phone. Open the Play Store and search for IPTV Smarters; if your store does not show it, the developer’s site has the same file and it installs through Downloader.
- iPhone, iPad and Apple TV. Search the App Store for IPTV Smarters and install. On the Apple TV it is a separate tvOS listing; the iPhone and iPad share one.
- Samsung and LG sets. Open the TV’s app store (Apps on a Samsung remote, the Home button then Apps on an LG Magic Remote), search for IPTV Smarters, and install the build it offers. Our Samsung and LG pages cover the model years each store supports.
- Windows and Mac. Download the desktop installer from the developer’s site and run it; Windows SmartScreen asks once. The PC page compares it with a browser player.
- Open IPTV Smarters Pro and choose Login with Xtream Codes API. Fill the four fields from your email exactly as written and press Add User. The channel list downloads in about thirty seconds.
- Set the clock. Settings → Time Format to 12 or 24 hour, and leave Automatic Time Zone on so the guide matches your province. Open the guide and check a live game against your phone.
The login email carries the Xtream Codes details and the M3U link. Add the same details on every device you own; one subscription covers all of them, and only the screens actually playing count against your plan.
Login with Xtream Codes API in IPTV Smarters Pro, field by field
The first screen offers three ways in, and Login with Xtream Codes API is the one to use. It shows four fields. Any Name is a label for this login on this device; type your surname or “Living room”. Username and Password are from the email, case-sensitive. http://url:port is the server address, typed with the http:// and the port number after the colon. Press Add User and the app fetches the channels, categories, guide and catch-up window in one go.
The second option, Load Your Playlist or File/URL, takes the M3U link instead. It works, but the guide then needs a separate EPG link under Settings → EPG, and a twenty-thousand-channel playlist takes longer to parse on every launch on an 8 GB stick. We send both formats so you can use M3U in VLC on a laptop and Xtream Codes in IPTV Smarters Pro on the TV.
The app keeps several logins on the List Users screen, each with its own favourites and settings, which is how a household with two subscriptions on one TV stays organised.
The six IPTV Smarters Pro settings that stop tickets at 7 pm
IPTV Smarters Pro opens with defaults chosen for a phone, not a television in a Canadian condo at puck drop. These six changes, all under the gear icon at the top right of the home screen, fix most of what people write to us about.
Stream format: MPEGTS first
Settings → Stream Format: choose MPEGTS (.ts) on Android, Fire TV, Samsung and LG. Switch to HLS (.m3u8) on Apple TV and iPhone, and wherever a stream stalls every few seconds on Wi-Fi; HLS tolerates a weak radio better at the cost of a few seconds of delay.
Built-in player, VLC for the stubborn channel
Settings → Player Selection: keep the built-in player for Live TV. If one channel stutters or plays without sound, install VLC and choose it as the external player for that stream; VLC decodes it in software.
Time format and zone
Settings → Time Format and Automatic Time Zone. Leave automatic on. If the guide is still hours out, Settings → EPG → Timeshift moves it an hour at a time; Eastern viewers should need zero.
Parental PIN on adult categories
Settings → Parental Control: change the default PIN, then lock the categories you do not want on the kids’ remote. The lock is per user profile.
Auto-start on the TV
Settings → Automation: turn on Auto start on boot and Auto play last channel on a TV box, so the set comes up on TSN rather than a menu. Leave both off on a phone.
Clear the cache monthly
Settings → Clear Cache. On an 8 GB Fire TV Stick or an older Samsung this single habit prevents most “it worked yesterday” tickets; the guide cache grows daily.
EPG, 7-day catch-up and multi-screen in IPTV Smarters Pro
With an Xtream Codes login the guide fills itself; the EPG tile on the home screen opens a grid, and the Live TV view shows now and next beside each channel. If it is blank, open Settings → EPG, press refresh and wait a minute. The app refreshes the guide on launch by default; on a stick that makes the first minute slow, and a daily refresh under the same menu is enough.
Catch-up is the Catch Up tile. It lists only the channels with an archive, and opening one shows the last seven days by date. A Saturday game you missed is under the Sportsnet feed that carried it, not under the national simulcast, and regional feeds sometimes keep a shorter archive than the news channels.
Multi-screen, the Multi-Screen tile, plays up to four channels on one screen on Android TV, Fire TV Cube, Shield and the desktop builds of IPTV Smarters Pro. Each pane is a stream, so four panes on a Standard plan stop at two. Leave it off on an 8 GB Fire TV Stick, which lacks the memory for two decoders.

Favourites, hidden groups and the 2026-27 hockey picture in IPTV Smarters Pro
Favourites are the fix for a twenty-thousand-channel list. In Live TV, long-press a channel on a TV remote, or tap the heart icon on a phone, and choose Add to Favourites; a Favourites category appears at the top of the list. Ours is CBC, CTV, Global, Citytv, CP24, TSN 1 to 5, our Sportsnet region, RDS and TVA Sports. The category list has a hide option in its menu on current builds, so the countries you never open stop pushing Sportsnet down the page.
The 2026-27 season changed what Saturday means. Rogers and the CBC did not renew, so Saturday games are Saturday Night Hockey on Sportsnet with no over-the-air hockey any more; selected Mondays are on Sportsnet+ only and selected Wednesdays on Amazon Prime Video. Regional feeds are unchanged: the Leafs split between Sportsnet Ontario and TSN4, the Canadiens on TSN2 and RDS, the Senators on TSN5, the Jets on TSN3, Flames and Oilers on Sportsnet West, the Canucks on Sportsnet Pacific. Regional blackouts are real, so the feed carrying your team depends on where you are; our channel list sets them out.
Favourites are the one thing to rebuild on each device; IPTV Smarters Pro does not sync them between a Fire TV Stick and an iPhone. Five minutes per device, once, and the same row of Canadian feeds is on every screen.

Is IPTV Smarters Pro free?
Yes, on every platform. There is no premium unlock. Some TV-store builds on Samsung and LG charge a one-time activation fee, and the listing on your set says so before you install; the Android, Fire TV, Apple and desktop builds do not.
Which login should I use in IPTV Smarters Pro, Xtream Codes or M3U?
Xtream Codes. The four-field login fetches the guide, the categories and the catch-up window from the server directly, so the guide fills itself. M3U works but needs a separate EPG link and parses slowly on an 8 GB stick.
Does IPTV Smarters Pro work on an Apple TV and a Samsung TV at the same time?
Yes, with the same login. Only the screens actually playing count against your plan: Standard is two streams at once, Pro is five. A guide open on a third screen costs nothing.
Why is my guide blank or hours out?
Blank means the EPG has not loaded; press refresh under Settings → EPG, and on an M3U login add the EPG link. Hours out means Automatic Time Zone is off or the timeshift is set; both are under Settings.
Should I use MPEGTS or HLS?
MPEGTS on Android, Fire TV, Samsung and LG, HLS on Apple devices and on any device that stalls every few seconds over Wi-Fi. HLS adds a few seconds of delay, which matters only if you are texting a friend during the game.
Does IPTV Smarters Pro do multi-screen?
Yes, up to four panes, on Android TV, Fire TV Cube, Shield and the desktop builds. Each pane is a stream against your plan, so four panes need Pro. It is not practical on an 8 GB Fire TV Stick.
Can I try the service in IPTV Smarters Pro before paying?
Yes. The 24-hour trial is the full service on any device and needs only an email; the login arrives in Xtream Codes and M3U form. Run it at 7 pm on the screen that gave you trouble.
Is TiviMate better than Smarters?
On an Android TV box, TiviMate has the nicer guide for a small annual fee. Everywhere else, Smarters is the only choice, and on an 8 GB Fire TV Stick it is the lighter app. Many households run both with the same login.
