XCIPTV Player in Canada: the lightest guide app for an 8 GB Fire Stick

XCIPTV Player is the app we send to anyone running an older or entry-level Fire TV Stick, because it does everything TiviMate and IPTV Smarters Pro do with less memory and a shorter list of things to configure. It also runs on Android TV and Google TV from the Play Store. This is the whole XCIPTV setup, from the install to a favourites row of TSN and Sportsnet, with the fix for each fault.

Runs on

Android TV and Google TV from the Play Store, and Fire TV by sideload. Lean enough for an 8 GB Fire TV Stick Lite or HD.

Install path

Play Store, or Downloader with the address ol.guide, then sign in. About five minutes for a first XCIPTV setup.

What it is

What XCIPTV Player is, and which devices run it

XCIPTV Player is an IPTV player published on the Google Play Store under the developer name NAT HDTV Network. It carries no channels of its own; it takes the login we send and builds a channel list, a guide and a player around it, the same model as every other app on this site. Its selling point is weight: the app itself is small and asks little of the device’s memory, which matters more than any feature list on a budget stick.

That keeps the hardware to two groups. Android TV and Google TV devices install it straight from the Play Store: the Chromecast with Google TV, the Nvidia Shield, and Sony, TCL and Hisense Google TV sets. Fire TV Sticks and the Cube run it too, sideloaded through Downloader since Amazon does not list it. We do not send people to it for Apple TV, iPhone, Samsung or LG, since XCIPTV has no build for any of those; use IPTV Smarters Pro there instead.

The app is free to install, with the same login-based model as the rest of this site: nothing to unlock, no separate account with the developer, and no feature held back from an XCIPTV household on the free download.

The install

The XCIPTV Player install path on Android TV, Google TV and Fire TV

An XCIPTV Player setup differs only at the first step, depending on whether your device has the Play Store. Everything from sign-in onward is identical on a Shield and on a Fire TV Stick Lite.

  1. Android TV or Google TV: install from the Play Store. Open the Play Store, search for XCIPTV Player, and install the listing from NAT HDTV Network.
  2. Fire TV: install through Downloader. Go to Settings → My Fire TV → About, press select seven times on the device name, then open Developer Options → Install unknown apps and switch on Downloader. Open Downloader and type ol.guide into the address bar; it resolves straight to the current XCIPTV installer.
  3. Open the app and add a playlist. Choose Xtream Codes login if you have a server address, username and password, or the M3U tab if you have a link, and give the playlist a name.
  4. Enter the login. For Xtream Codes, type the server address exactly as emailed, including http:// and the port after the colon, then the username and password. For M3U, paste the playlist link, then the EPG link on the next screen.
  5. Check the guide. Open the EPG and compare a live channel to the clock on your phone; if it is hours out, the fix is in the settings below, not the clock.

The whole XCIPTV Player install is five minutes on a stick already signed in to an Amazon account. If Downloader will not take the address, confirm Install unknown apps is switched on for Downloader specifically, not just enabled in general.

Two ways to log in

Xtream Codes or M3U in XCIPTV Player, field by field

Both formats reach the same channels in an XCIPTV Player setup. Xtream Codes is three fields, a server address with its port, a username and a password, all case-sensitive; the app uses them to ask the server for the guide, categories and catch-up window as separate feeds, which is why the channel list appears quickly even on an 8 GB stick.

An M3U playlist is a single link holding every channel. XCIPTV Player accepts it on its own tab, but the guide is a second link, the EPG URL, entered on the following screen; skip it and the guide stays empty. We send both formats, and recommend Xtream Codes for XCIPTV specifically because it keeps the guide in sync without a second link to remember.

The login is identical on every screen in the house. Standard plays two streams at once and Pro plays five, whether that is one Fire TV Stick or three devices running XCIPTV at once.

Settings that matter

The six XCIPTV Player settings that hold a stream at 7 pm

XCIPTV Player ships with sensible defaults for a mid-range box, not necessarily for an 8 GB Fire TV Stick Lite on a shared Wi-Fi network. These six changes, all under the gear icon, cover most XCIPTV tickets we answer.

Player engine: ExoPlayer first

Settings → Player → Video Player Engine: start with ExoPlayer, the lighter of the two. If audio drops out or drifts out of sync on a specific channel, switch that channel, or the whole player, to VLC, which decodes more codecs correctly at the cost of a little more memory.

Buffer raised on Wi-Fi

Settings → Player → Buffering: raise it one notch from default on Wi-Fi, and leave it at default once the stick is wired. Too high on an 8 GB stick slows down channel changes more than it prevents stutter.

EPG set to update daily

Settings → EPG → Update Interval: once every 24 hours, overnight. Refreshing the guide on every launch is the usual reason XCIPTV takes a minute to open on a stick that was quick last week.

Catch-up turned on

Settings → Playlist → Catch-up: switch it on for your playlist so programmes carry the small clock icon that opens the 7-day archive. Without this the archive exists on the server but never appears in the guide.

Multi-screen off on 8 GB sticks

Settings → Multi-Screen: leave it off on a Fire TV Stick Lite or HD. Two decoders running at once is more memory than an 8 GB stick has to spare, and it is the most common cause of an XCIPTV restart mid-game.

Dark theme

Settings → Appearance → Theme: choose dark. It is easier on the eyes in a living room at night and, on a stick that struggles, a plainer theme redraws the guide a little faster than the default light one.

Guide and catch-up

EPG and 7-day catch-up in an XCIPTV Player setup

With an Xtream Codes login the guide fills itself once the channel list finishes loading; with M3U it depends on the EPG link pasted at setup. If the guide is empty, open Settings → EPG and press update, and on an M3U playlist confirm the EPG link is actually there, since a missing one is silent rather than an error.

Catch-up is the small clock icon on a programme once it is switched on for the playlist. Move left along the guide to an earlier day and press select on the programme to open the archive; a Saturday game you missed sits under the Sportsnet feed that carried it, and some regional channels keep a shorter window than the national news channels.

Favourites help the guide load faster too: an XCIPTV list with every hidden group still ticked on takes longer to build than one trimmed to the countries you actually watch, covered next.

Canadian channels

Favourites, hidden groups and the 2026-27 hockey picture in XCIPTV Player

Long-press any channel and choose Add to Favourites to build a row that sits above the group list; ours carries CBC, CTV, Global, Citytv, CP24, TSN 1 to 5, our Sportsnet region, RDS and TVA Sports. Open Manage Categories and untick the countries you never open; an XCIPTV list trimmed this way builds in a couple of seconds on a Fire TV Stick Lite instead of ten.

The 2026-27 season changed what Saturday means. Rogers and the CBC did not renew, so Saturday games are Saturday Night Hockey on Sportsnet with no over-the-air hockey any more, selected Mondays are on Sportsnet+ only, and selected Wednesdays are on Amazon Prime Video. Regional feeds are unchanged: the Leafs split between Sportsnet Ontario and TSN4, the Canadiens on TSN2 and RDS, the Senators on TSN5, the Jets on TSN3, the Flames and Oilers on Sportsnet West, the Canucks on Sportsnet Pacific. Regional blackouts are real, so the feed carrying your team still depends on where you are watching.

Favourites and hidden groups do not carry over between devices; an XCIPTV Player login rebuilt on a second Fire TV Stick or an Android TV box needs the same five minutes again. It is worth doing on every screen, since the difference between a ten-second guide and a full unfiltered one is entirely this step.

Questions

XCIPTV Player questions we answer most

Is XCIPTV Player free?

Yes, on both Android TV and Fire TV, with nothing to unlock. What you pay for is the subscription; the app itself never charges separately.

Does XCIPTV Player work on Apple TV, iPhone, Samsung or LG?

No. XCIPTV has no build for any of those. Use IPTV Smarters Pro on Apple devices and the app in the TV’s own store on Samsung or LG; the same login works in all of them.

Is XCIPTV Player better than TiviMate or IPTV Smarters Pro on a Fire TV Stick?

On an 8 GB Fire TV Stick Lite or HD, XCIPTV is the lighter choice and the one we suggest first. On a 4K stick or a Shield with more memory, TiviMate’s guide is nicer; all three take the same login.

Why does Downloader not find XCIPTV Player at ol.guide?

Almost always Install unknown apps is off for Downloader specifically. Settings → My Fire TV → Developer Options → Install unknown apps → switch Downloader to ON, then try the address again.

Should I use Xtream Codes or M3U in XCIPTV Player?

Xtream Codes. It gives the app the guide, categories and catch-up window as separate feeds and keeps the guide in sync. M3U works but needs the EPG link pasted as a second step.

Why did XCIPTV Player restart during a game?

Usually Multi-Screen left on, or a full cache, both common on an 8 GB Fire TV Stick. Turn Multi-Screen off and clear the app’s cache; a stick with more memory rarely shows this at all.

Can I try the service in XCIPTV Player before paying?

Yes. The 24-hour trial is the full service on any device and needs only an email; the login arrives ready for the Xtream Codes or M3U tab in XCIPTV Player.

Do favourites and hidden groups move with me to a new stick?

No. XCIPTV Player keeps them on the device, so a new Fire TV Stick or Android TV box needs the same few minutes of setup again. It is quick, and worth doing on every screen.
